Abstract

Cultivating the surface of a brigalow clay, soil under a stand of green panic (Panicum maximum) increased the annual yields of dry matter in the tops from 8,000 to 10,000 kg ha and of nitrogen from 90 to 120 kg. This suggests that rundown pastures on brigalow soil could be renovated by disturbing the surface soil.
