- short-lived perennial shrub
- deep-rooted and drought-resistant
- prefers light to medium textured soils,
- branches too brittle for cattle browsing.
This rather short-lived perennial shrub may grow to 4 m, but varies widely in habit of
growth, height, earliness of spring growth, persistence and seed size.
It is a deep-rooted plant with a reputation for drought-resistance, but it is not
frost-tolerant. It prefers light to medium textured soils, but will not withstand
waterlogging.
The branches are brittle and break when browsed by cattle.
